The Conservative Group of Merton Councillors are deeply concerned that it has taken 10 months to produce this report which is only four pages in length and that Circle Housing Merton Priory (CHMP) did not provide copies directly to any Councillors.
While we welcome the outcome of the report in concluding there was no fraud, we are shocked at the overcharging by Keepmoat, who have had to repay £170,000. It is alarming that this could happen given the large sum involved.
The quality, accuracy and missed appointments have been an issue for over two years and we have been raising our concerns with CHMP on a regular basis, this report now confirms why there were serious problems with the service.
Commenting on the report, Councillor Janice Howard, the Conservatives' Culture Leisure and Housing Spokesperson said:
"It is disappointing that CHMP could not take action earlier, and it needed an external investigation to highlight the issues and the lack of a contract management system.
Circle Housing will have to work hard to restore their credibility with residents who have lost confidence in the repairs and maintenance operation. They should be ensuring that the work is of a high standard, right the first time and on time."
