Local Councillor, Louise Calland, has been chosen as the candidate for the Merton and Wandsworth seat for the Greater London Assembly, a body that was created to hold the Mayor of London to account. Louise will be campaigning on issues that affect our lives in London every day. In particular, she pledges to focus on crime, housing, health and wellbeing.
She said, “I am thrilled to have been chosen to stand for the GLA. I want to use this campaign to talk to the people of Wandsworth and Merton about prevention. Preventing crime and treating knife crime both as a current issue and a longer-term public health issue. Preventing escalation of the housing crisis in London and really looking at how we can help ‘generation rent’. Preventing the factors that affect our wellbeing, from air quality to violence against women and girls.”
