On Thursday 19th May, you will have the opportunity to vote for change in St Helier and elect a new councillor to represent our area on Merton Council.
I attended school right here in Merton, then joined the Air Training Corps before going onto serve in the Royal Corps of Signals and Royal Army Medical Corps. I then went to work for a local retailer in Morden. I am now a mature law student and fervent AFC Wimbledon supporter.
As the Conservative candidate for this by-election, I want to use this experience, and my enthusiasm, to help you and our whole community. My action plan for St Helier, if elected, includes:
· Fighting to ensure the delivery of high quality healthcare services from St Helier Hospital
· Securing increased funding from the Council for our elderly and disabled residents, replacing services recently cut by Labour
· Initiate a borough-wide ‘Festival of Youth’, to bring our young people together in a showcase event, highlighting the different groups and opportunities available to them locally
· Working with local transport providers to better serve residents, including the local bus services and trains via St Helier and Morden South rail stations
· Supporting local businesses and pushing for real regeneration and improvements for Morden town centre
· Cleaning up our mucky streets and ensuring that Merton Council come down hard on those who fly tip and graffiti
If you vote for me on Thursday 19th May I will stand up for all residents in our area and deliver my action plan to secure a better future for everyone. I hope I can have your support.
Best Wishes
Sue Edwards
